Suffragan Bishop Elect Melvin Lavon Campbell
Bishop Elect Melvin Lavon Campbell was born in Lockport, IL on September 5, 1971 to Climmieteen and Leroy Campbell. He was raised and taught holiness at a young age from Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Faith Church located at Princeton Ave, in Lockport, Illinois under the pastorate of Bishop Clord Jordan where he was baptized as a child. Bishop Campbell later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on December 31, 1992 at Christ Temple in Joliet, IL under the pastorate of then D/E J.E Moore, the former Presiding Bishop of the PCAF (Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith.
The hand of the Lord was upon Minister Campbell as he quickly began serving the Lord in many capacities of the church. He joined the Usher Board committee and was appointed to be an audio technician. He held office with the Brotherhood department as secretary and then treasurer, which lead to him later becoming a Sunday school teacher for the teenage boys and working as an Altar Evangelist. He was part of the “Edifiers” choir and eventually served as president of the Youth Department. He was called into the ministry the year of 2000 with a humble heart to serve the board of Elders. He also served as the treasurer of the Illinois State Youth Department.
Elder Campbell completed the Sunday School ETA program with the PCAF national body. In February of 2015, he graduated with his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Christian Ministries at Midwest Apostolic Bible College.
On April 3, 2005 Minister Campbell was appointed Assistant Pastor of the Christ Temple Church located in Bloomington under the pastorate of Julia Smith. Minister Campbell assisted her through preaching and teaching the word of God weekly. Minister Campbell was installed Pastor of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church on September 25, 2005 by the Diocesan Bishop, Doctor D. Rayford Bell of the Illinois State Council of the PCAF. August of 2007 Minister Campbell became an ordained Elder of the PCAF at the 50th National Convention in Detroit, Michigan. Elder Campbell served on the United Pastors Alliance for 8 years and August 2015 he was elevated to a District Elder in the PCAF. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Illinois State Council.
Bishop Campbell is loved by his wife Evangelist Edyth Campbell. They are blessed with two beautiful children: Melvin Lavon Campbell II and Tecola Clim Campbell both have been baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.
